We love our mates at Fancy Free and had a chat to them about what they're up to during the Festival.

1. Tell us about your involvement in the Melbourne Cocktail Festival (MCF), what events are you part of?

Our company Fancy Free is involved with two events at the Festival. The Stomping Ground Cerveza Cantina, and the Bacardi Backyard Breezer at Drinkwell.

2. What’s the creative process you and your business partners jump into to create different drinks? Does it have a similar framework for each drink?

Keep it weird, keep it fun. We all play different parts in the creative process.

We have different backgrounds both culturally and within the Industry. Rob hailing from the UK and his time spent working as a Brand Ambassador helps with taking great ideas and making them work both for brand and us. Matt with his family roots in Swaziland has an incredible knowledge and scope in music, and excels at connecting customers to concept through his style of service. Myself, with my background in design, photography and filming, am able to add special touches to events giving them their unique element.

It’s our diversity in skills that makes us who we are.

3. What does the MCF mean for the drinks and hospo industry in Melbourne and beyond?

It’s exciting to finally see Melbourne get the festival it has long been overdue for. We’re proud to be a part of it and represent Victoria’s bar industry, to learn and to help the event grow for the years to come.
